Got back from Burning Man about 4am last night. I briefly skimmed the past week or so's lj entries, but I'm sure I missed a lot. But the coolest two things I happened to find both are audio, so it prompted me to make a post all out of audio links.

First, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] azalynn for posting a link to this really cool online text to speech engine. To quickly demonstrate how cool it is, I made a couple soundbytes by typing in some text and having it read it in various robot voices. My favorite is the Indian-American voice, Anjali.

Also fun is the old woman voice Claire [NSFW], and what I call the "Morpheus" voice, Rich.

Or, if you like, just listen to them one at a time and a couple others here where I put the audio files for now.

Second, here is an audio file I made a while ago of myself reading one of my poems Jeff.L.Jones-Punctuated.Equilibrium.mp3. I wrote this in August of 2004, and I think even posted it to my lj then, but didn't record it until a couple months ago, and I'm so lazy I just now got around to posting it.

And lastly, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] patrissimo for calling my attention to Schaffer The Darklord. Attack of the Clonefucker [NSFW] is immediately my new favorite Nerdcore song. Such a sweet song... I don't know how [livejournal.com profile] patrissimo finds them, maybe we just have the same sense of humor. Bloodhound Gang is the only artist/band I'm aware of that's capable of constructing lyrics that can make me laugh as hard. Of course, they both make Weird Al look like a total Amateur.

When I get a chance, I guess I'll try and write something about Burning Man. Right now it seems like it's too hard to try and describe.

I just realized that I'll never go to burning man, because it's always on labor day weekend. And so is dragon*con

Yeah, that does suck. They're both incredibly cool (and surprisingly similar in many ways). I was sad too the first time I realized this. They both have some big things I crave that the other doesn't, but personally I think overall BM has more going for it. Still, I might decide to skip one year and go to DragonCon. If nothing else because it would be nice to be around interesting people and not have to deal with the scorching heat.

Gaah....I seriously almost sprayed my monitor at the Claire one. Holy crap. I love that I've been able to introduce others to something so, um, useful. :D
