pickt-chures... lotsuvum :--)

I went hiking in Big Basin Redwoods state park last weekend, with [livejournal.com profile] icarusdiver, [livejournal.com profile] wanton_adonis, Gabe, and Rachael. After uploading them to my gallery, I figured it was about time I also upload the pictures of the singularity summit, as well as some extra pictures of me to make new icons. I noticed that the last couple times I met someone whom I only knew on lj they said "you don't look much like your icons" so I figured it's high time I added some more recent icons of myself.

Gabe doesn't really sweat that much, he just dunked his head in the stream...

This was the tallest tree I've ever seen in my life... unfortunately, there was no possible way to photograph the whole thing (or to see all the way to the top), but here is the base of it (note human for scale!):

See also: singularity summit pictures, and most recent self portraits, some of which I've made into new icons.

I gasped upon seeing the first picture. So fucking gorgeous. I need to visit the West Coast, like, now.

if you're ever in western north carolina, check out the poplar loop in joyce kilmer memorial forest: it has the largest trees i know of in the deep southeast. it might hold you over til you visit the west.

Well if you do ever visit, be sure and look me up... I could use an excuse to go back there.

I feel bad that this is actually the first time I've gone hiking since I've lived in the northwest! I really should get out more often :)

Wow, how beautiful are those trees? Awful tall, too. We don't have forests like that here in New England, though we do have some nice forests. Not the same, though.

The Singularity Summit pics are cool, too - yay Douglas Hofstadter! And the convo with the hologram must have been neat to watch - and your new self-portraits are nice, as well.

You look like an old family friend, a bit. Bill Siegel, used to go to places like Nicaragua on humanitarian trips a lot. Nice guy; really smart guy. :)

Pretty pictures! :-)

And I hope you don't mind if I remark on this but, besides you being super-smart, I hope you realize that you're hawt. Like totally, completely hawt. ;-)

Oh and nice shirts too!

thanks

[livejournal.com profile] gustavolacerda tells me I should say hello. Hello :-)

[identity profile] spoonless.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that hello as in "please add me!" or hello as in "hi"? Either way... hi... :) (waves)

[identity profile] bondage-and-tea.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It was either or both, I hadn't decided. Sure, why not - add me please :-)
